Three male bodybuilders and one female fitness who emerged champions at the national selection and recently passed the doping test made it to this year’s national team.
The Philippine Federation of Bodybuilders, Inc. (PFBB), the official national sports association (NSA), has announced its new line-up for the year’s Philippine Team, among them: light flyweight Ireneo Dianso (55 kg); flyweight Dick S. Takiban (60 kg); middle weight Nixon Mas (85 kg); and fitness Dulce Carina O. Purugganan.
Aside from the medals and cash prizes, the new team members will be eligible to compete in three international events for 2007, namely, the Asian Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships in Shanghai, China on August 28 to September 3; the World Bodybuilding Championships in Jeju, Korea in October; and the 2007 SEAGAMES THAILAND in December.
In another development, the PFBB regrets to announce, in accordance with WADA and ABBF rules, the following “stage winners” who failed the dope test, and are therefore, suspended from all PFBB, ABBF, and IFBB-sanctioned contests. They are Jose Gerardo Bautista, Victor Lales Jr., Cax Mayuga, Philip Quimpo, Ricky Posas Jr., Michael Velasco, and Wesley Reej Villa, and Ronald Villar.
Also, elected into the PFBB are the following new set of officers for 2007: Luciano C. Lim (chairman), Nikki Tsai (vice-chairman), Jesus D. Pono (president); Engracio L. Tiu (vice-president, internal), Edgar C. Lim (vice-president, external), Corinna B. Mojica (secretary/PRO) and May L. Lim (treasurer).
