Dear President/General Secretary:

From time to time, our National Federations and our Athletes receive invitations directly from organizers of competitions that are NOT APPROVED by the IFBB.

To eliminate potential problems, if you receive information about a competition, please take the following steps:

1. Verify that the competition is APPROVED by the IFBB by checking the Contest Calendar published at www.ifbb.com.

2. Consult IFBB Headquarters if you require any additional information.

3. Double-check with the organizing National Federation as some approved events may not yet be listed in the calendar.

4. National Federations may NOT act on invitations received directly from an organizer. Only invitations received from IFBB Headquarters or affiliated National Federations may be considered.

5. Any National Federation that wishes to organize an international competition must first apply to the IFBB for approval and must provide as much information as possible about the event so as to allow the IFBB to make a reasoned judgment on whether or not to give its approval.

6. Once approval is given by the IFBB, or the applicable Continental Federation, invitations to participate will be sent only to National Federations and NOT directly to Athletes.

7. Only those Athletes who have received written consent from their National Federation may participate.

Competitions that are promoted as “Open to all Organizations” are NOT APPROVED by the IFBB.

The IFBB is a democratic organization with a Constitution, a presence in IOC-recognized international sport bodies such as GAISF and the IWGA, and a set of Rules that provide an opportunity to everyone who wishes to compete in the sport of bodybuilding and fitness under the banner of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB).

We strongly believe that sport is strengthened through institutions like the IFBB and weakened by “private” groups that seek to take advantage of our Federation, structure and members.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

With my best regards,

Prof. Mauricio Arruda
